Hi y’all!

I’m Courtney Paige Esparza or CPE (formally Courtney Paige Gunnells). I am a wife and a mother but I think you all want to know about my professional background so let’s start there! 

I graduated from Tarleton State University in 2019 with my Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. Go Texans! Originally, the plan was to further my career in accounting by continuing my education to receive my MBA and following the path to obtain the title of a Certified Public Accountant, better known as a CPA. However, after six years of college, two degrees, and one baby boy, I decided that more college wasn't the path I wanted to travel down at that point in time. I decided to become a certified teacher and taught Advanced Algebra I to 8th grade students, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. If that doesn't scare you back to accounting then I don't know what will! Becoming a teacher was a valuable stepping stone in my life because it helped me strengthen my skills to be able to roll with the punches efficiently and effectively. There will always be obstacles in everything that you do but learning to successfully and productively break through those obstacles is invaluable.

While in school and before becoming a teacher, I worked for a small subcontracting company where I learned an abundance of knowledge in all things bookkeeping and construction billing. If you have ever billed for a construction company then you know that that is a beast all on its own! Working for this company, for 5+ years, truly put my accounting degree to the test and I received so much field based experience that school just can't teach you. I recently onboarded them to QuickBooks Online which is what led me to pursue bookkeeping as a career.

The goal is still to go back to school and become a CPA eventually, but for now I look forward to helping you all grow your business by providing you with individualized accounting services tailored specifically to your business needs!
